Le Sentier Tranquille (‘the quiet path’) in the foothills of the Pyrenees in Ariège in SW France can be your centre for a gîte country holiday or a B&B stay,

We are located on the edge of a rural hamlet with hill and forest walking from the doorstep and mountain walking a short distance by car.  You can stay in our gîte (sleeping up to six), or as a guest in our  chambres d’hôte (with meals if you wish) and relax in a garden full of birds, bees and butterflies and a setting which resonates the rhythm of nature.

In the area you will find sleepy country villages, medieval fortified towns, remote castles, the legacy of the Cathars, lakes and rivers and mountains.  And with all this go a couple of aquatic centres, horse riding, bike trails, via ferrata routes, even a Go-Kart circuit … but without the traffic and jostling of most tourist haunts – unless, that is, you want to take a trip over the border into Andorra.
