Birds, butterflies and bees ........
Here is your ideal French holiday cottage… in the foothills of the Pyrenees, at a road-end in a peaceful hamlet.
L’Oustalet (which means “little house” in Occitan, the ancient language of the Languedoc) is a recently restored village house, from where you can explore the Ariège in SW France. You are on the edge of one of the ancient forests of the region and have fell-walking from your front door and mountain walking a short drive away, in an area rich in flora and fauna - boar, deer, chamois, and birds from the smallest (tree-warbler) to the largest (golden eagle and griffon vulture).
Around you are sleepy country villages, medieval fortified towns, remote castles, the legacy of the Cathars, lakes and rivers and mountains. With all this go a couple of aquatic centres, lake swimming, horse riding, bike trails, via ferrata routes, even a Go-Kart circuit … but without the traffic and jostling of most tourist haunts. And for your tax-free indulgences, Andorra isn’t far away.
Browse through our site and links and be surprised at what you might discover in this far-flung corner of France. And then look at our travel links and find how easily you can get here.
We look forward to welcoming you.
